We believe the bond between a person and their pet is one of the most profound relationships a human being can have.

And we believe losing that bond deserves real, compassionate support.

A beloved dog

Sit. Stay. HEAL. was founded on a simple truth: the grief that follows the loss of a pet is real, deep, and too often dismissed.

We exist to change that — to offer a space where your love for your animal is honored, your grief is witnessed, and you are never made to feel like it was "just a pet."

Why We Exist

Pet loss grief is one of the most misunderstood forms of grief. We provide support for every stage of that journey.

  • Anticipatory grief before a loss
  • The immediate aftermath of losing a pet
  • Long-term grief that lingers
  • Difficult decisions like euthanasia
  • Grief that others don't understand
  • The space between loving and letting go

Because you deserve support...

Summer Willow Fitch

Founder & Pet Grief Support Coach

Summer Willow Fitch is a Pet Grief Support Coach, Marriage and Family Therapy graduate student, and founder of Sit. Stay. HEAL., a space dedicated to the human-animal bond from rescue to rainbow and everything in between. Her work supports pet parents navigating grief, transition, and the deep love that comes with sharing life with an animal.

Summer is also a co founder of KABOD Consulting Group, where she has spent years designing and facilitating professional training grounded in trauma informed and trauma responsive practices. She brings that experience, along with her clinical education, to her work with people navigating pet loss and life transitions.

Raised in Philly with more than 35 years of experience loving, rescuing, fostering, and advocating for animals, Summer's connection to this work is deeply personal. Sit. Stay. HEAL. brings together her professional training, lived experience, and lifelong love of animals to create a compassionate space for people learning how to carry love forward after loss. Meet Summer's 4-year-old fur baby,  Olivia.

Debbie Thompson

Customer Care Coordinator

Debbie Thompson has spent her life doing what comes naturally: caring for people, helping them feel seen, and connecting them to the support they need.

With decades of experience across customer service, counseling, case management, and program coordination — including work as a librarian, a hospital care team member, and a volunteer supporting young mothers — Debbie brings both warmth and a deep service background to every client interaction. She also holds a clergy counseling certificate and studied business and sociology at Northeastern Christian Junior College.

And if you've ever spoken with her, you already know: she has the most soothing voice you've ever heard.

Long before Sit. Stay. HEAL. existed, Debbie was helping shape its foundation. Her love for animals helped teach her daughter, Summer, that pets are family — and that caring for them is both a responsibility and a gift.

Based in North Carolina, Debbie handles appointment scheduling, client follow-up, and the behind-the-scenes details that help every client feel cared for from their very first interaction. Meet Debbie's 10-year-old fur baby, Stella.

Our Philosophy

We don't believe healing means forgetting.

We don't believe grief has a timeline.

We don't believe you should have to justify how much you loved them.

We believe your pet mattered. Your grief matters. All of it belongs.

Honoring the bond. Holding space for the grief. Helping you heal.
